Jack's parents were the first wedding I photographed when returning to central Illinois. His mom and I grew up together with our moms exchanging plants and gardening tips. We feel like family, even without a share DNA.

As a good proud aunt, Jack is seriously cute. Check out those beautiful eyes. His pirate ways were plundering and pillaging his way through this shoot like a good almost 13 month old should. I loved being able to capture so many aspects of his childhood from his room to their mailbox to some of his favorite outdoor activities.

My favorite thing about capturing children is that they challenge your shooting abilities. Jack was actually incredibly upset through this entire shoot but lapsed into smiles and grins in-between. We made do with that, and that was enough.
