Anna and David's engagement session was a mix of fun and deja vu. The couple met in high school and their first date was prom. This was awesome on so many levels. While we covered the expected romantic engagement photographs, we also included some fun poses re-creating some classic prom pictures and visiting places that had significant importance on Anna and David's journey to the alter. We started at Frank Lloyd Wright's Dana Thomas House in Downtown Springfield, then worked our way to Washington Park, ending the evening at Centennial Park as the sun set in the background of the last few photographs. This was an especially fun session because David was leery of being photographed. Engagement session are especially important in these situations. They serve as a dry-run of the wedding day and make the wedding day photo shoot natural and enjoyable. We do this by taking a trip down memory lane with each pose and location. People laugh naturally when remembering things that make them happy. Those nervous smiles become genuine laughter as the couple spends time in each others arms talking about the past and planning for the future.
